The ruling coalition has decided to seek opposition's help in thrashing out a joint strategy against terrorism.

This was stated by Pakistan Muslim League secretary-general Mushahid Hussain Syed while addressing a joint press conference with other central leaders of the ruling coalition.

Federal Housing Minister Syed Safwanullah (MQM), Senator Tariq Azeem (PML), Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Maj Tanvir Hussain Syed (Retd) (PPP), Senator Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli (PPP), Minister of State for Sports and Culture Rais Munir Ahmed (PPP) and Muhammad Ali Durrani (PML) were also present on the occasion.

Condemning the suicide attack on prime minister-designate Shaukat Aziz, Mushahid Hussain said that the incident has strengthened Aziz's resolve to serve the nation.

He felt that there is a dire need for a joint strategy to counter these terrorist activities urging all political parties to work on one point agenda in this regard.

The PML secretary-general invited all opposition political parties for evolving a joint strategy to tackle the issue of terrorism. He said that the terrorism must be eradicated, as it has badly damaged our image abroad.

In reply to a question, Mushahid said that Shaukat Aziz's election campaign would continue according to the schedule.

"There will be no change in his election campaign. He is in a very high spirit," he added.

Sharing his views, Syed Safwanullah said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement strongly condemns suicide attack on Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.

He said that terrorists do not want to see our country progressing, therefore, they are trying to destabilise it. He also reiterated that the government would curb this menace at all levels.

He hoped that Shaukat Aziz will win the by-elections with heavy mandate.

Tanvir Hussain Syed said that the dastardly acts of terrorism, carried out by terrorist organisations on the behest of their misdirected and selfish leadership, could not deter them from their goal of eradicating the terrorism.

He also condemned the suicide attack and assured that such acts will not disrupt the reform agenda to strengthen the country - financially and politically.

Rais Munir Ahmed, Muhammad Ali Durrani and Anisa Zeb also expressed their views and condemned the suicide attack on the prime minister-designate.
